Titanic

I can not believe that I payed money for this. Standing around waiting for a boat to sink so I can freeze or drown which ever I may choose and all the while I get to watch my salvation row away. This is all this stupid Captain Smith fault. He knew there were iceburgs and he probably never slowed down. Then him going around lying to us say "Everything is fine." and "Return to your rooms everything is under control." lying through his teeth just so he could keep face! I can not even remotely see how this could have benifited him. No, this is the way it was ment to be. The women and children have been saved and I can not blame the crew for leaving early. The boats weren't full but had they waited for them to fill the animals trying to get aboard may have overloaded the boats making then tip over and then the women and children would be in the same "boat" we are in. They did what was right but they would not have had to if the captain did so in the first place.

Pity for Nazis?

I do not beileve that the German Soldier desserves pity. In the story "The Sunflower" he says "Many young Germans of my age die daily on the battlefields. They have fought against an armed enemy and have fallen in the fight..." showing his sympathy for other nazis. No person that sympathizes nazis deserve to be pitied. On top of that he murdered many people by just mindlessly slaughtering them and has the nerve to hold jealousy to those that still are fighting. Also in "The Sunflower" the german soldier pities himself. No one should pity themselves when what they pity themselves for is their own fault and should they pity themself they shouldn't ask others for pity. Sometimes we get into circumstances due to our own doing but that is nothing to be pitied we metaphorically "dug our own grave" so we should have to dig ourselves out and that gos for the soldier aswell.

I believe that a doctor that assist terminally ill patients in commit suicide should be forgiven. The terminally ill patients are only going to suffer and it is a doctors duty to help ease that suffering. Besides if the patient wanted to end there life so bad that they would ask for help from a doctor then they probably will do it with or without the help and what do you think would be easier on the family; having to bury their relative now or having to bury them later after they had to watch them slowly die for the last 6 months. The doctor is doing what is right and should be forgiven for it.

Fort Monroe

And then i'm there. At first glance i see the fort wall made from a stone and morter to old to identify and the row apon row of houses inside the fort. I can smell the gun powder from the cannon fire that they have been shooting off all night now. As I walk i start to become oblivious to the smell of the B.O. or the popcorn and rockcandy i'm eating but i do start to notice the fireworks way off in the background just behind the fort walls.I climb up the rusted metal stairs to the top of the wall and i'm hit by the cool breeze that comes from the sea as i notice the boat on the water thats shooting off the fireworks.I try to use a napkin to get the butter and sugar off of me fingers but i am still in aww by the fireworks. I love Fort Monroe on the Fourth of July.

Advertisement Analysis

     The advertisment i have chosen to review is the Dentastix dog sticks advertisment. The main goal of this advertisment is to get you to purchase Dentastix. The advertisment uses a variety of techniques to convince you to do so.

     Through the use of the first technique, purpose, the advertisment aims to say that Dentastix could help prevent your dogs breath from becoming dangerously smelly. One can assume that since the words "against bad breath" is off to the side in front of the dentastix ,and since the bird is dead that the dog did not use the Dentastix that this advertisment is showing what could happn if you do not use their products. The  use of the cartoon fashioned dead bird and the innocent looking dog add humor.

     /I believe the tone of the paragraph is humor. I believe this ,for two reasons. One, is that the bird is dead, on its back, mouth open, in a humorous, and cartoonish style death. The cartoonis style death is usually associated with a funny way to die such as a anvil falling of a mountain side hitting a character on the head. Another way this shows humor is through the white shape behind the Dentastix that looks like drool.

     In conclusion, the Dentastix advertisment uses tone and purpose in various ways to get you to puchase their product.

Rectangles rectangles

Rectangle ABCD is similar to rectangle WXYZ with sides in a ratio of 4:1. What is the ratio of the areas of the two rectangles? Say a rectangle has the dimensions of 1x1 its area is 1 say the other rectangle has dimensions of 4x4 its area would be 16. 16 is 16 times bigger then 1(duh) i'm not to good at explaining but i will try.

a way to make ratios a little easier is to but the ratios to X

like so 4X:1X

which means that there are 2 sides that 4 times bigger then X

and there are 2 sides that are 1 times bigger then X 

so both numbers become squared like so

(4^2)X:(1^2)X

4 squared is 16

1 squared is still 1

so the new ratio is

16X:1X

meaning the areas are always 16 times larger

Suppose the dimensions of each rectangle are tripled

doing this will cause and increase of area in both rectangles

but the rectangles' areas will still be within the ratio

like so

16X*3:1X*3

equals

48X:3X

48 is still 16 times large then 3
